Athens With Mykonos And Santorini

Today enjoy Athens city tour starting with a photo stop at Panathinaiko Stadium where the first Olympic Games took place in 1896. It is the only stadium built out of white marble. Proceed, passing by Zappeion and Temple of Olympian Zeus. You will then pass the Athens Trilogy which includes the University of Athens, the Academy of Athens, and the National Library. Stroll up to the UNESCO-listed site that served as the ancient citadel, and tour the buildings as you hear how they reflected Athens’ prosperity in the 5th century BC. Proceed to post to board a ferry for Syros – famous for its fantastic beaches, rich culture and great restaurants. On arrival enjoy tour of Syros covering Ermoupolis, the capital of Syros, which used to be a rich trade center in the past, which is depicted today in its wonderful architecture. The elegant mansions with the Venetian style and the Neoclassical buildings of Ermoupolis come in contrast to the traditional Cycladic architecture of the other villages on Syros. The highlight of Ermoupolis is Miaouli Square, where we will see the impressive Town Hall. The most picturesque neighborhood of Ermoupolis, Vaporia, is great to walk around. Then we will see the church of Kimisi Theotokou (Assumption), to see the famous original icon of Dominicos Theotokopoulos (El Greco), the famous painter of the 15th and 16th century. The historic Theater Apollon is one of the major attractions of Syros and constitutes an emblem of the island’s cultural heritage. Created in 1864 by the Italian architect Pietro Sampo who was inspired by 4 stunning Italian standards including the Scala di Milano, the theater Apollon adorns the heart of the capital to this day. Later proceed to Ano Syros a medieval hilltop village. From the square of Ano Syros enjoy the best view of Ermoupolis and the busy port.

Today proceed to explore another mesmerising island of Greece – Mykonos by ferry. On arrival enjoy walking tour covering Mykonian history allies – the whitewashed streets, where one can learn about the winding streets which are designed to confuse invading pirates. Continue your walk through coastal paved road and pass by Manto Square to see the monumnet to Manto Mavrogenous a heroine of the Greek War of Independence. Later we visit Little Venice- one of the most romantic places in Mykonos. This neighborhood is replete with elegant and gorgeous old houses that are situated precariously on the edge of the sea. Church of Panagia Paraportiani- the most photographed church in Mykonos, It is located at the entrance of Kastro neighbourhood, right by the sea. Its name (Paraportiani) actually means standing next to the entrance door, the famous windmills- an iconic feature of Mykonos which can be seen from almost every corner of Mykonos Town. Return to Syros by ferry.

Later continue to Oia village, which pronounced ‘Ia’, is the most famous of all villages of Santorini.
